Sustainability
For us, building for the future means: demonstrating responsibility and thinking long-term.
As steel constructors, we take responsibility – for many projects in our region and for future generations. For us, sustainability means consistently leveraging the strengths of this material: intelligently planned, precisely processed, and resource-efficiently implemented.
The Versatile Sustainability of Steel
Recycling & Reuse
Steel is unique in its circular economy potential. Up to 99% can be recycled or directly reused. 88% goes into recycling, 11% into reuse. The material quality is maintained – steel can be recycled indefinitely without loss of quality. This clearly distinguishes it from other building materials.
Digital Planning and Logistics
Modern tools like BIM and 3D planning reduce resource consumption already in the design phase. CO₂ emissions can be calculated early on. Precise dimensioning saves material, reduces transport, and lowers construction site traffic. BIM also enables sustainable tenders with a focus on land consumption, energy efficiency, and CO₂ balance.

CO₂ Targets and Processing Influence
The industry aims to achieve CO₂-neutral steel production by 2050. It is important to distinguish: steel production is currently the energy-intensive part, while steel construction manufacturing itself only causes about 5% of the environmental impact. The major lever therefore lies in climate-neutral primary production – steel construction will then automatically benefit.
Our Contribution
At Oberhofer, we focus on precision, efficiency, and future orientation when it comes to sustainability.
- consistent circular economy
- fewer emissions through optimized logistics
- durable structures with flexible application
- innovation through hydrogen technology
This is how we are already building today what will be standard tomorrow.
